Interpretation of Seeing Decorative Belts in a Dream

The people of Turkey often wear decorative belts as part of their attire for adornment. These belts are mostly made of gold. The best belts are those made entirely of gold, followed by those made of silver but plated with gold.

Imam Shihabuddin al-Qarafi stated:
“For an idle person, seeing such belts in a dream indicates obtaining employment, while for a king, these belts symbolize armies and servants. The ornaments on the belts represent the king’s most important servants. These belts are also a symbol of women. In this context, the ornaments on the belts symbolize a woman’s adornments.”

Imam Qarafi further explained:
“The reason these belts indicate employment is that they are typically worn around the middle of the body, similar to how work revolves around the core of one’s efforts. For a king, the middle represents his army, as they are positioned centrally under his command. The evenly spaced lines on the belts symbolize the ranks of an army standing in formation, hence they signify the king’s military forces.”

The belts also represent a woman’s adornments because they are part of her embellishment. The decorative chains hanging from these belts are interpreted similarly to necklaces or various colors carefully arranged on them.

If someone dreams that their belt is lost or damaged, it is an omen of misfortune for the dreamer.

For a king, dreaming that his belt is lost indicates betrayal by his army or some soldiers.
If a person dreams that their belt is lost, it signifies the end of their livelihood, the loss of their job, or the departure of their wife or maidservant.

An individual once told Imam Qarafi that he dreamt of wearing a belt underneath his clothes. He felt delighted, but the belt lacked decorative chains. Imam Qarafi interpreted:
“You are secretly involved with the wife of a soldier. The woman is tall with delicate skin, and she has a young son. Have you spoken to her about marriage?”
The man replied affirmatively. Imam Qarafi then said:
“You will not be able to marry her.”

Another person narrated a dream to Imam Qarafi, saying that he saw himself wearing a belt instead of a waistband under his trousers. Imam Qarafi interpreted:
“There is a place in your house where you met the wife of a soldier, but she was not willing to fulfill your desires. This is because a waistband is akin to a hidden place in the house, and her unwillingness is symbolized by the fact that a belt does not replace a waistband.”
The interpretation turned out to be accurate.
