Meaning of Green Figs and Grapes in Dreams

Interpretation of Green Figs in Dreams:

Most people like green figs, and thus, they often signify sustenance and benefit.

The fig’s significance is highlighted by the fact that Allah swore an oath upon it in the Quran.

However, some interpreters suggest that seeing green figs in a dream can symbolize distress and hardship.

Imam Shihabuddin Qarafi’s Insight:

If a person sees green figs in a dream and then encounters trouble, it represents distress. Otherwise, it usually indicates sustenance.

Interpretation of Grapes in Dreams:

White grapes in a dream symbolize abundance, goodness, and prosperity, provided they are seen in their season.

If someone eats grapes during their season, it means they will receive their expected sustenance or livelihood earlier than anticipated.

Seeing black grapes also represents sustenance but indicates that it will not last long.

Additional Interpretations:

  • Black grapes in season may signify distress, while out of season, they may signify illness.

  • If someone dreams of seeing black grapes at the king’s gate, it suggests they might be subjected to punishment.

  • Some interpreters believe there is no harm in seeing black grapes since Allah referred to grapes as sustenance.

The correct interpretation depends on the dreamer’s context, as seen with the fig interpretation.

Other Associations:

  • Grapes can symbolize rain, as “عنب” (grape) shares phonetic similarity with “غيث” (rain).

  • If someone dreams of holding a cluster of grapes, it indicates they will receive wealth from their wife because, symbolically, a grapevine represents a woman, and picking grapes signifies inheritance.

  • Throwing away grapes after picking them suggests disputes with one’s wife and complications in matters.

  • If someone dreams of extracting juice from grapes to make wine, it implies receiving rewards from a king or acquiring forbidden wealth, referencing the story of the king’s cupbearer in Surah Yusuf.
