Meaning of Back, Spine, Chest, and Stomach in Dreams
Interpretation of Back in Dreams:
Seeing the back in a dream is a sign of a person’s dominance and steadfastness, while a bent back signifies trouble. Sometimes, a bent back may indicate premature aging. Seeing a friend’s back in a dream represents his anger and separation. Seeing an enemy’s back signifies protection from his harm. Seeing an elderly woman’s back in a dream indicates the decline of worldly status and wealth. Seeing the back of a young person in a dream suggests delayed success or a problem that is taking longer to resolve.
Interpretation of the Spine in Dreams:
The spine, seen in a dream, symbolizes dignity (as it allows a person to walk straight and with honor). It is also a sign of childbirth, as the sperm gathers in the spine area. Thus, if a person dreams that their spine is strong, it indicates wisdom and intelligence, or it may signify the birth of a healthy child. Some interpreters have said that the spine seen in a dream represents a strong and trustworthy person. A broken spine in a dream is a symbol of neglected prayers.
Interpretation of the Chest and Stomach in Dreams:
Professor Shahabuddin Qaraafi said, “In dreams, a large and beautiful chest and stomach signify various benefits, enjoyment, and freedom from troubles, while an unattractive chest and stomach indicate misfortune and difficulties.”
Some other interpreters state that a narrow chest in a dream symbolizes misguidance, as Allah says:
“And whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens his heart to Islam” (Al-An’am 6:125).
Similarly, a wide chest in a dream, especially for a non-Muslim, signifies the news of his conversion to Islam, as Allah says:
“So whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens his chest to Islam” (Al-An’am 6:125).
If someone dreams that their chest has turned into stone, it is a sign of their hardness of heart.
A small stomach in a dream indicates scarcity in wealth, children, and family, while a large stomach signifies abundance in these matters. It is also said that a small stomach without hunger indicates financial scarcity, while a small stomach with hunger represents greed.
One person dreamt that he was pouring black water into people’s chests.
Imam Shahabuddin Qaraafi explained: “You are spreading corrupt beliefs among people and telling them things that change their correct beliefs.”
Another person dreamt that they were taking something beautiful from people’s chests.
The Imam said, “You are acquiring knowledge.”
Another person shared that they were sitting on an unknown chest in their dream.
The Imam interpreted this as: “You will assume a presidential position.”
A woman told Imam Qaraafi that she dreamt of passing over a man’s chest.
He said: “Your love will settle in his heart.”
Another woman mentioned that she dreamt of passing over a rooster’s chest.
He said, “Someone loud and noisy loves you.”
A person dreamt that they were eating something good from someone’s stomach without permission.
Imam Qaraafi explained: “You are taking something from this person’s earnings without his knowledge.”
Another person told Imam Qaraafi that they were lighting a fire on people’s stomachs to recognize them.
He said, “You are making a lot of noise.”
Yet another person dreamt that they were tearing open people’s stomachs and taking blood from them without their knowledge.
The Imam said, “You are a healer.”
All of these interpretations by Imam Qaraafi turned out to be correct.
