Islamic Dream Interpretation of Seeing Chairs and Household Items in Dreams
Interpretation of Chairs in Dreams:
If someone sees sofas, chairs, or benches in their dream and they own them or are sitting on them, it symbolizes honor, high status, and prestige for the dreamer, as chairs are generally associated with important people.
Seeing these items in a dream can also indicate marriage, wealth, and various benefits.
If the dreamer is someone who is not deemed suitable to sit on chairs, then seeing chairs or sofas or sitting on them in the dream may signify troubles and difficulties.
If someone sees in their dream that they descend from their throne and then return to it, it means that whatever they have lost—be it kingship, honor, or a woman—will be restored to them. This is supported by the Quranic verse:
“And We placed upon his throne a mere body, then he turned (to Us).”
(Surah Sad: 34:38)
Seeing chairs and thrones in dreams can also symbolize other matters.
A person once told Imam Shihab al-Din al-Qarafi that he saw himself sitting on a throne over water in his dream. The Imam interpreted it by saying, “You will die, and your body will be placed in a wooden coffin.”
Another individual told him, “I saw in my dream that someone else was lying on my bed.” The Imam asked, “Is that person ill?” When the man replied affirmatively, the Imam said, “He will die, and your bed will serve as his bier.” Later, the individual passed away as predicted.
A man narrated that he saw himself riding on a throne placed on a camel while walking through a desert. The Imam explained, “You will embark on a trade journey.”
A woman once said, “I saw myself standing on a pulpit, addressing men in my dream.” The Imam responded, “You will become infatuated with a preacher, speaker, or jurist, and you will gain fame through them. However, this will cause you distress.” Indeed, this is what happened to her.
Another woman narrated a similar dream but added that she was addressing women. The Imam told her, “You will marry a preacher, speaker, or jurist.” And so it happened.
