Islamic Dream Interpretation of Headwear and Clothing in Dreams
A turban is a type of headwear. Dreaming of a turban symbolizes the prominence of the dreamer’s community and reflects their honor, high status, and rank.
If the dreamer is qualified for a position or leadership, seeing a turban or a cloak in the dream may signify attaining that role or authority.
For instance, a man once dreamt that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) placed a red turban on his head, wrapping it around 22 times. An interpreter told him, “You will rule tyrannically for 22 years.” The red color of the turban symbolises tyranny.
A white cap in a dream represents piety, righteousness, and high status.
A black cap signifies leadership, while a green cap indicates stability in religious matters. For an unmarried woman, a green cap suggests marriage, and the same interpretation applies to a scarf.
For a pregnant woman, dreaming of a green cap foretells the birth of a son.
If there is any change in the condition of headwear, such as it being torn, dirty, or stolen, it indicates a decline in the dreamer’s honor or financial losses. It may also point to illness or the passing of a family member or close relative. Additionally, it could signify troubles affecting the dreamer’s home, garden, or servants.
If someone dreams of wearing a turban on their feet, tying it around their waist, or using a shalwar (traditional trousers) as a turban, it signifies hardship, poverty, or misuse of resources. This interpretation applies to any clothing item worn unusually.
A man told Shaykh Shahab al-Din Qarafi, “I dreamt of wearing a turban on my feet.” The Shaykh replied, “You have committed adultery with your mother.” The man admitted, “I was intoxicated at the time.”
Another individual shared a similar dream with Imam Qarani. The Imam said, “In battle, you will be beheaded, and your body will be trampled.”
A man said to the Imam, “I dreamt of wearing sandals on my head.” The Imam asked, “Is someone trying to harm you?” The man confirmed, “Yes.” The Imam replied, “You will experience a headache, possibly caused by the sandals.”
Another person narrated to Imam Qarani, “I dreamt of using my shalwar as a turban.” The Imam inquired, “Do you have a daughter?” The man answered, “Yes.” The Imam said, “You will marry her off but keep her with you, making her husband a live-in son-in-law.” The man responded, “That is exactly what I want.”
