A Real-Life Incident with Ibn Abbas (RA)
A man once told Ibn Abbas (RA):
“I saw in a dream that I lowered a bucket into a well, and two-thirds of the bucket was filled while one-third remained empty.”
Ibn Abbas (RA) interpreted:
“You have been away from home for six months, during which your wife has become pregnant. You will have a son.”
He explained:
- The well represents the wife.
- The bucket symbolizes the man.
- The water signifies glad tidings, akin to the joy of the caravan that found Yusuf (AS) in the well.
- Two-thirds of the bucket represents six months, and the remaining one-third represents three months.
The man confirmed:
“You are correct; I have received a letter stating that my wife is pregnant.”
