Interpretation of Melon in a Dream:
Eating an out-of-season melon in a dream symbolizes hardship and illness.
If someone eats a melon before it ripens in season, it signifies good health and recovery.
If someone eats a melon after it has ripened, it suggests they will face a sorrow or difficulty that will be hard to understand and even harder to find a way out of.
Imam Ibn Sirin (رحمہ اللہ) stated: “If someone dreams that they are a prisoner and eating a melon, it means they will be freed from captivity, as Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
فَابْعَثُوا أَحَدَكُمْ بِوَرِقِكُمْ هَذِهِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَنْظُرُ أَيُّهَا أَزْكَىٰ طَعَامًا (Al-Kahf 19:18).
‘Send one of you with this silver of yours to the city and let him see which food is purer.’”
Some scholars interpret the term “طَعَامًا” (food) in this verse to specifically refer to melon.
If someone dreams that they raise their hand to the sky and take a melon from there, it means that they will seek kingship and will soon obtain it.
One person dreamed that someone threw a melon into their house. The interpreter told them, “For every melon that fell in your house, the same number of people from your family will pass away.”
In the context of interpretation, the general principle regarding melons is that they represent sustenance. The Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) not only ate melons but also liked them. Some narrations emphasize the virtue of eating melons, though I have not come across a specific hadith on this.
As far as my understanding goes, those who have interpreted melons as a symbol of illness likely focused on two main negative qualities of the fruit: firstly, melons spoil very quickly, and secondly, their color turns yellow, which is commonly associated with illness.
In my personal experience, seeing a melon in a dream symbolizes hardship.
Seeing a watermelon in a dream represents a person who is unpleasant or disliked in the eyes of others.
