The open hands and fingers in a dream symbolize the meaning of the hands. Additionally, the palm represents the five daily prayers.
The thumb represents the Dhuhr prayer, the index finger represents the Asr prayer, the middle finger represents the Maghrib prayer, the ring finger represents the Isha prayer, and the little finger represents the Fajr prayer, as it is the smallest.
If someone dreams that their fingers are cut off or diseased, it indicates that their close relatives will die, their financial condition will worsen, or their prayers will be invalid.
If a king sees this dream, it means that his control over his army, slaves, or children will weaken.
If a king dreams that his fingers have multiplied, it signifies an increase in his generosity.
If someone dreams that their fingers have taken the place of other fingers, it means that they are performing one prayer at the time of another.
It is narrated that Harun al-Rashid once saw the angel of death in a dream and asked how much time was left for him. The angel spread his hand, showing five fingers. Harun al-Rashid quickly woke up. The interpreter explained that the angel had indicated that only Allah knows five things and recited the verse:
“Indeed, Allah alone knows of the Hour” (Luqman 34:31)

A person dreamt that each of his fingers had become a monk’s hermitage. Hazrat Shihab al-Din Qaraafi explained that this could symbolize children who passed away.
In another case, someone mentioned to Hazrat Shihab al-Din Qaraafi that they dreamt of eating people’s palms. He replied that this meant the person had stolen a ladle or spoon and made a profit by selling it.
Another person mentioned to Hazrat Imam Qurani that they had dreamed of cutting a stranger’s palm and burning it. The Imam explained that this meant the person had cut down a tree without permission.
Another person mentioned that they dreamt of eating their right palm. The Imam said, “You are taking false oaths.”
A person mentioned the same dream again, and the Imam explained that it meant they would inherit from their brother or son.
Someone else mentioned to the Imam that they had sold their palm. The Imam explained that it meant they had a razor that would get lost.
The growth of hair on the palm in a dream is sometimes interpreted as temporary wealth. Some have said it represents debt and sorrow.
