Interpretation of Seeing a City in a Dream
Seeing a city in a dream symbolizes a king because a frightened person seeks refuge in a city, and a needy individual heads to the town to fulfil their needs.
A city in a dream also represents a scholar because just as a city provides safety from enemies, a scholar teaches ways to protect oneself from Satan and Hellfire. Thus, entering a city in a dream signifies religious improvement and protection from fear. Seeing a city from a distance in a dream is a glad tiding of encountering a scholar.
In a dream, the destruction of a city symbolizes the death of scholars, whereas its restoration after ruin signifies scholars’ dominance and strength.
If a city appears to be devoid of a king or a governor in a dream, it indicates a rise in the cost of goods. This is because the absence of governance leads to chaos in the city, which in turn causes inflation and scarcity of necessities.
Exiting a city in a dream signifies fear, as Allah Almighty states:
“So he left it, fearing and waiting.”
(Surah Al-Qasas, 28:21)
Interpretation of Dreaming of a Fortress
Seeing a fortress in a dream symbolizes safety and protection.
If someone dreams that they have become a fortress, it indicates that they will safeguard their chastity, protect themselves from disgrace, and secure their wealth.
Dreaming of a fortress also signifies giving zakat, as zakat acts as a fortress for wealth, protecting it from harm.
The destruction of a fortress in a dream symbolizes corruption and decay in matters related to religion.
At times, seeking refuge in a fortress in a dream indicates forming a friendship with a prominent person. If the same fortress is seen in ruins, it signifies the death of that prominent person or a change in their positive behaviour. This is because people associate with influential individuals to ensure the safety of their lives and wealth and to fulfil their needs.
Seeing a mountain fortress in a dream symbolizes relief from distress and an indication of finding a livelihood.
Viewing a mountain fortress from a distance in a dream represents travel. It also brings glad tidings of peace and security from enemies.
