Interpretation of Weapons in Dreams

Weapons in General: Seeing weapons in a dream symbolizes strength and benefits. The Quranic verse supports this:
“And We sent down iron, in which there is strong material and benefits for the people” (Al-Hadid 57:25)

A sword in a dream represents a declaration of war, conflict, and disputes.

If the dreamer is involved in a dispute, they will prevail by the will of Allah.

If someone sees themselves holding an unsheathed sword, they will overcome their opponent.

For rulers, if they see themselves dragging the sword on the ground, it signifies the weakening of their authority.

If the strap of the sword’s sheath breaks, it indicates removal from a position of power.

Sometimes, the sword symbolizes the tongue. For example, if someone sees themselves playing with a sword, it denotes their eloquence and political acumen.

If a person dreams of placing two or three swords in a sheath, and they break, it suggests they will divorce their wife three times.

A sword may also symbolize a son.

Hisham once narrated to Imam Ibn Sirin, saying:
“I saw in my dream that I was holding an unsheathed sword, and its tip was resting on the ground like a walking stick.”
Imam Ibn Sirin replied, “Is your wife pregnant?”
He answered, “Yes.”
Imam said, “She will give birth to a child of awe-inspiring nature.”

A man once told Imam Ibn Sirin that he had seen in a dream a person standing in the courtyard of Basra’s mosque without armor and holding an unsheathed sword. The person struck a rock with the sword, shattering the rock into pieces.

Imam Ibn Sirin explained, “This person is likely to be Hasan al-Basri, as he alone stands for the defense of religion. The mosque symbolizes religion, and the sword represents his tongue. Through his truthful speech, he has shattered the rock of falsehood.”
The man confirmed, “You are right. That person is indeed Hasan al-Basri.”

Interpretation of Spears in Dreams:

A spear seen in a dream can symbolize four things:

A person who dreams of holding a long spear may have a son. For instance, after seeing a long spear in their dream, someone named their son “Taweel” (long).

A man once told Imam Ibn Sirin, “I dreamed of holding a spear and walking ahead of the king.”
The Imam interpreted, “You will speak the truth before the king.”

Since travelers often carry a spear or stick, it symbolizes a journey.

A spear can represent a wife, as both are personal possessions.

A spear in the hands of a rider signifies kingship, honor, and prestige. However, if the spear breaks, it indicates a loss of strength or honor.

Interpretation of Lances in Dreams:

The interpretation of a lance is similar to that of a spear. However, if the lance symbolizes a boy, it signifies that the boy will pass away at a young age.
