Interpretation of Saddles and Saddle Bags in Dreams

Dreams involving saddles, saddle blankets, or rugs placed on animals represent servants and women.

Some interpreters state that a saddle in a dream symbolizes a wealthy, virtuous, and beautiful woman.

Example Interpretation by Imam Ibn Sirin

A man once told Imam Ibn Sirin (رحمه الله):
“I saw myself riding my mount and passing through a valley. The saddle on my mount stayed behind, while I moved forward with the mount.”
Imam Ibn Sirin replied:
“You are a wicked man. A calamity will befall you in which you will abandon your wife and move on.”
Later, the man went on a journey with his wife. Along the way, a gang of robbers attacked them. The man fled to save his life, leaving his wife at the mercy of the robbers.

Sitting on the Ground in Dreams

Sometimes, sitting on the ground in a dream represents a horse or a donkey.

Saddle Bags in Dreams

A saddlebag with two compartments seen in a dream signifies relief or escape from hardship.

A man dreamt that he secretly swallowed a saddle bag with two compartments.

When he narrated this to Imam Shihab al-Din al-Qarafi (رحمه الله), he was told:
“You have stolen a scale and consumed its proceeds.”

Another Example

A man told Imam Qarafi (رحمه الله):
“I dreamt that I had a saddle bag with two compartments. Sometimes, I got into one corner, and at other times, into the other corner.” The Imam asked: “Have you married two sisters?” The man replied, “Yes, when my wife passed away, I married her sister.”

Dreams Involving Heavy Saddle Bags

A man narrated to Imam Qarafi (رحمه الله):
“I dreamt of holding a saddle bag with two compartments in my palm, and it felt heavy.” The Imam interpreted: “You will develop a wound on your hand that will cause you pain.”

General Interpretation of Saddle Bags

The two compartments of a saddlebag carry the same interpretation as that of chests.

Theft and Saddle Bags

A man told Imam Qarafi (رحمه الله): “I dreamt that I swallowed a bag full of clothes.” The Imam interpreted: “You have stolen from someone’s house.”

Dreams of a Torn Saddle

A man narrated to Imam Qarafi (رحمه الله): “I dreamt of having a torn saddle.” The Imam asked, “Do you own a donkey or a horse?” The man replied affirmatively, to which the Imam said, “It will stumble and fall.” Another person with the same dream was told, “You will purchase a defective animal.”
